The ECN Tri-State Chapter, consisting of volunteers based in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, will be hosting a fundraising dinner and presentation on Saturday, March 30th, 2013 at the Garden City Hotel in Garden City, NY.

The event will commence at 6.30 pm with a reception and registration, followed by dinner and the main event at 7.00 pm. Keynote speaker Dr. Sherif Abouelnaga, the Vice President of CCHE 57357, will be in attendance.

CCHE joined the South African Embassy in celebrating the 94th birthday of the highly-venerated activist and former South African president Nelson Mandela. The celebration was held at CCHE and was attended by the South African Ambassador to Egypt, Her Excellency Noluthando Mayende – Sibiya, as well as many other officials from the South African embassy and representatives from other African embassies, including Zambia, Namibia, the Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Algeria, as well as the General Commissioner of the African Economic Council. They were welcomed by Dr. Sherif Abouelnaga, CCHE’s Vice President of Research, Academic Affairs and Outreach.

Included in the celebration was entertainment for the patients in the hospital and a statement made by Her Excellency Mayende – Sibiya in which she stated that President Mandela’s love for children that was the source of the idea for the celebration venue; she also noted that he was closely following the progress of 57357 as he is interested in establishing a similar institution in South Africa.

The event also emphasized the strengthening of the relationship between Egypt and its African neighbors, particularly in light of the visits paid by Ambassadors of various African nations to CCHE this past spring.

Dr. Sherif Abouelnaga speaks to an audience in Dallas about the 3 C’s of life: choices, chances and changes. “You must make a choice to take a chance to change your life.” Dr. Sherif’s personal belief in the 3 C’s has helped him to change the lives of many. As a co-founder of Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357, he helped to launch the busiest and largest pediatric cancer hospital in the world. This is his story and their vision.
